I guess it depends on the farm animals involved, eg. are we talking about dairy cows, sheep breed for wool or cattle bred for eating?

Some basic activities might be...

1) Breeding
2) Rearing calves, lambs etc
3) Feeding and ensuring they get the nutrients to make them healthy
4) Caring for sick animals
5) Milking cows
6) Buying and selling stock.
7) Maintaining the farm and facilities
