Hi pookie434,

In American history, the period 1865-1901 was known as the "Gilded Age" that refers to an era of rapid economic and population growth in the United States.

The Gilded Age is most famous for the creation of a modern industrial economy. During the 1870's and 1880's, the U.S. economy grew at the fastest rate in its history. A national transportation and communication network was created.

Rapid economic growth fueled by entrepreneurs who created great new industries in railroads, steel, coal, textiles, and machinery operated by millions of immigrants from Europe (and some from Asia), built new cities overnight, making the U.S. the world's leading industrial power.
