Hi learing12,

Charlemagne was a good man and he took good care of his subjects. He was an Iron Man, but more important than that, he was a man who inspired an iron nerve in the warriors who fought for him and with him. When he was present, they all became iron warriors, and the army of the Iron Emperor was an iron army.

Charles's armies were made of nobles, bound to him by oaths and were granted tracts of land to support themselves and their soldiers.

Not much information relating to your question could be found. Hope this helps.
