I suppose that you want to know about the impact geography has had on the Indian civilization.

Rivers such as the Indus and the Ganges(Ganga) made the Indian soil fertile. Cities and towns were built on the banks of these rivers from very ancient times. The Indus river valley was home to first Indian civilization. Great civilizations developed and flourished amidst the rivers, mountains, plains and the deserts of the sub-continent.
