The earliest river valley civilizations all produced cities, powerful rulers or kings, systems of writing and an early interest in observing and measuring heavenly objects.Explain why location near a major river might have leaad to the developement of these things.

Hi Tammara, that's a big question...sounds like an essay ;)

I'd have thought it had something to do with trade and business and communications. Where there was a big river there was a way to easily move people, goods and knowledge by boat and so towns well placed along big rivers thrived. The confluence of all those things and growing numbers of people certainly lead to the emergence of powerful rulers and kings.
