Sounds more like a physics question than a riddle. Usually these things have a few parameters, like you can only use 4 straws, a balloon, and some foam...or something like that. The issue is how to dissipate the energy generated by the fall. Would be real easy if you had a good supply of soft pillows :)

ObiWanKenobi: actually you are wrong for once. If you drop an egg six feet, then it would still be in the air once it fell. it would need to fall one more foot to break. the answer is really, you have to drop it more than five feet.
