Have a technology assignment due and I need help with the following: The history of treasure chests? what is the purpose/function of treasure chest?

Also need to know what materials the normal/average treasure chest is made of and why? How is the tresure chest constructed and why?

Treasure Chests on wikipedia...and of course the purpose of a TC was to store ones pirate booty.
