Meerkats live in large groups, known as "mobs" or "gangs". When they are out and about foraging for food etc atleast one of the group acts as a lookout and will warn the others by whistling or barking if it sees any predators. Interestingly Meerkats have also developed some immunity to various venoms like Scorpion venom which would kill a person.
